Details
In the heartwarming comedy-drama film The Meddler, an aging widow named Marnie, played by Susan Sarandon, embarks on a journey to Los Angeles after her husband's passing. Seeking a fresh start, Marnie follows her daughter, Lori, portrayed by Rose Byrne, who is an aspiring screenwriter. The film beautifully explores the challenges and joys that come with aging, loss, and finding purpose in new beginnings.
As Marnie adjusts to her new surroundings, she finds herself meddling in Lori's life, constantly trying to help and improve things. From leaving endless voicemails to showing up unannounced, Marnie's well-meaning interference starts to wear on Lori. However, as time goes on, Lori begins to recognize the love beneath her mother's constant presence.
While Lori navigates her own struggles in both her personal and professional life, Marnie becomes even more involved in the community around her. She befriends an Apple Store employee, a young screenwriter, and a senior citizen group, forming unexpected connections and discovering new passions.
The Meddler is a heartwarming and relatable film that explores the complexities of mother-daughter relationships and the journey of self-discovery in later stages of life. With its blend of humor and tenderness, the movie reveals the universal desire for connection, purpose, and love.
