In the supernatural thriller Stir Of Echoes (1999), Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon) undergoes a life-altering experience after being hypnotized by his sister-in-law, Lisa (Illeana Douglas). Soon after, Tom starts having disturbing visions of a young girl's ghost, becomes plagued by nightmares, and develops a heightened sense of smell. As these manifestations intensify, his friends and family become concerned for his mental stability.
