Details
In the waning years of the 1920s, the pro football league is struggling to survive. Dodge Connolly, a charismatic player, hatches a plan to save the sport: recruiting Carter Rutherford, a college football sensation and war hero. Dodge hopes that Carter's fame and integrity will bring credibility and much-needed attention to their struggling league.
Carter reluctantly agrees to join Dodge's team, the Duluth Bulldogs. As the charming war hero becomes the face of the league, a love triangle develops between Carter, Dodge, and a smart and sassy newspaper reporter, Lexie Littleton. Both men vie for Lexie's affection, intensifying the ever-increasing tension both on and off the field.
As the Bulldogs face countless obstacles, including desperate attempts by rival football teams to undermine them, the future of the league hangs in the balance. The players' loyalty is tested, friendships are strained, and secrets threaten to unravel everything.
Leatherheads takes audiences on a nostalgic journey to the early days of professional football, blending comedy, romance, and sports drama. With its witty dialogue, charismatic performances, and stunning period details, the film sheds light on the struggles and triumphs that shaped the sport into the cultural phenomenon it is today.
Starring George Clooney, Renée Zellweger, and John Krasinski, Leatherheads is a spirited and entertaining tale that captures the exuberance and intensity of a bygone era, while reminding us of the lasting power of passion, love, and the fight for what you believe in.
