Chesnic, who initially resents his assignment, gradually develops a grudging admiration for Tess as he witnesses her determination and resilience. While their relationship remains strained, he starts to understand the importance of his role in protecting her. As their bond strengthens, he becomes not only her protector but also someone she confides in.
