White Material (2009) is a thought-provoking and gripping drama that sheds light on the complexities of colonialism and the impact of racial tensions in an African society. Set against a backdrop of escalating violence and political instability, the film follows Maria Vial, played by Isabelle Huppert, as she refuses to abandon her coffee crop despite the growing danger.
As she navigates through a society on the brink of collapse, Maria faces opposition from rebel soldiers, government forces, and even her own family.
