Stranded on an unfamiliar planet, they soon realize that the roles of humans and apes have been completely reversed. While the astronauts find themselves surviving with minimal resources, they quickly notice that the primitive humans on this planet are unable to speak or form civilized societies, whereas the apes have evolved and developed their own language and technology.

He is taken to the city where the apes reside, eager to study and analyze this unique human specimen.
