Details
In the village of Northeast England, The Old Oak stands as the last remaining pub amidst a community that is facing challenges due to the closure of mines. As residents leave the land in search of better opportunities, the village becomes a ghost town with affordable and vacant houses. The arrival of Syrian refugees brings a glimmer of hope to the once thriving village.
The Old Oak becomes a central location for the integration of the refugees into the community, sparking a sense of unity among the villagers. As the refugees settle in, they bring their own stories, struggles, and hopes for a brighter future. The pub serves as a place where people from different backgrounds come together, sharing meals, laughter, and memories.
Through these interactions, the villagers and refugees learn from each other, breaking down barriers and prejudices. The Old Oak becomes a symbol of resilience, hope, and the power of community in the face of adversity. As the bond between the villagers and refugees strengthens, a new chapter emerges for the village, filled with compassion, understanding, and solidarity.
