The story follows Arendt's reporting for 'The New Yorker' on the trial of Nazi leader Adolf Eichmann in Jerusalem, a trial that shook the world with its revelations of the Holocaust. As Arendt delves into the depths of Eichmann's actions and motivations, she becomes embroiled in a heated debate surrounding her controversial views on the banality of evil. While some condemn her for suggesting that Eichmann's actions were not fueled by deep-seated hatred, others praise her for her intellectual bravery and commitment to seeking the truth.
