Over time, Fiona becomes emotionally attached to another patient named Aubrey, a wheelchair-bound mute. Grant is devastated but begins to understand that Fiona's affections have shifted, leading him to question the boundaries of love and loyalty.
Directed by Sarah Polley, Away from Her explores the profound emotional toll that Alzheimer's disease takes on both the patient and their loved ones. With exceptional performances from Julie Christie as Fiona and Gordon Pinsent as Grant, the film delves into the complexity of human relationships and the inevitable changes brought about by illness.
