From the producers of Once and Sing Street comes Float Like a Butterfly, a powerful and timely film that tells the story of Frances, a 15-year-old girl fighting for her freedom and sense of belonging. Set in rural Ireland, Frances dreams of becoming a boxing champion like her idol, Muhammad Ali. However, society and her own father, who was once her biggest supporter, are determined to crush her spirit and dismantle her way of life.
Despite facing numerous challenges and societal pressures, Frances refuses to be broken. She channels her inner strength and resilience to prove herself as the champion her father once believed her to be. In a gender-reversal of the classic film Billy Elliot, Float Like a Butterfly explores themes of perseverance, identity, and the fight for self-determination.
This inspiring film captures the struggles and triumphs of a young girl navigating gender norms and societal expectations to pursue her passion and find her place in the world. With its powerful storyline and compelling performances, Float Like a Butterfly is a must-watch for those seeking a thought-provoking and uplifting cinematic experience.
